Northern Gothic

For
Northern Gothic solo exhibitions at Woodend Gallery, Scarborough and York College Gallery
Description

‘Northern Gothic is a strange world at once familiar and yet other, shot with a Pinhole, Holga and Pentax K1000 camera with black and white film in the forests and woodlands of Yorkshire, where enchantment has a darker purpose. These forsaken landscapes embody the uncanny and explore the space between fear and doubt. The otherworldly presence of solitude pulls the viewer into a forgotten world and makes our reading of the photographs an act of uncertainty. The images display a dark romanticism and an artist’s feeling for place, creating a lost world of secret woodland where time has abandoned itself’.
